The ICO's office in Cardiff provides a local point of contact for members of the public and organisations based in Wales. As well as operating an advice service to address general enquiries on data protection and freedom of information, it promotes good practice in information rights by raising awareness of organisational responsibilties across all sectors. It also influences policy in related areas by working closely with the departments of the Welsh Assembly government and the wider public sector.
Who we are
Anne Jones, the Assistant Commissioner for Wales, leads our Wales office. Anne joined the ICO in 2003, with a background in library and information work and also considerable IT experience. She has an honours degree in French and Information Studies from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and an MSc in Information and Library Management from Bristol University.
The Information Commissioner's Office has prepared a Welsh Language Scheme that sets out how we will provide Welsh language services to the public in Wales. The Scheme was prepared with the assistance of the Welsh Language Board and came ito effect on 21 March 2007.
